Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The Cairo Apartment Building at 1615 Q Street, NW in the Dupont Circle neighborhood of Washington, D.C. The Cairo, designed by Thomas Franklin Schneider, was constructed in 1894 and billed as D.C.'s first "residential skyscraper." It's the tallest residential structure in the District and its construction resulted in the 1899 Heights of Buildings Act, a bill that limits the height of buildings in Washington, D.C. The Cairo is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
