English: Cairn on Watches Several hills in North Cumbria are named Watches or Watch Hill. Watching for the scottish! This one is a particularly good look out position. Every vehicle on the A66 over the Lake can be seen passing and the area north east of Bassenthwaite can be surveyed. The hill though lower than its mighty neighbours is easy to nip up and down to watch then raise the alarm should Jock and his Reivers appear. |
