Description |
English: Mimosa Thorn (Caesalpinia mimosoides) is a woody climber. Branch-lets are densely glandular hairy, with recurred prickles. Leaves are 22-36 cm long double-compound. Pinnae are opposite, 13-23 pairs, about 3.5 cm long. Leaflets are opposite, 7-14 pairs, oblong, about 9 × 4 mm, ab-axially and marginally with bristles. Lax flower racemes are borne at the end of branches. Flowers are large, more than 50 per inflorescence. Flower-stalks are unequal in length, 1.5-2 cm in upper part and 3-3.5 cm in lower part of inflorescence. Sepals are 5, 10 × 8 mm. Petals are bright yellow, round, upper one smaller, about 8 mm wide, others larger, about 1.7 × 1.3 cm. Stamens are 10, filaments 1.8 cm, densely cottony in lower part. Ovary is 5 mm, densely hairy, 1- or 2-ovuled, style 1.4-1.5 cm. Pod is obovoid, curved, 4-5 × 2.5 cm, splitting open. Seeds are 1 or 2, oblong. Flowering: November-December. മലയാളം : കൂറമുള്ള്. കമ്പുകളിൽ നിറയെ മുള്ളുകളുള്ള ഒരു കളയാണ് കൂറമുള്ള്. (ശാസ്ത്രീയനാമം: Caesalpinia mimosoides). കൽത്തൊട്ടാവാടി, കുമുള്ള്, കുറുമുള്ള്, കൂറുമുള്ള്, ചിങ്ങമുള്ള്, തീമുള്ള്, ശ്വേതമൂലം, ഭൂതസനം എന്നെല്ലാം അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു. മൂന്നുമീറ്റർ വരെ ഉയരം വയ്ക്കും. മഞ്ഞപ്പാപ്പാത്തി ശലഭം മുട്ടയിടുന്ന ഒരു ചെടി ഇതാണ്. ഏഷ്യയിലെല്ലായിടത്തും തന്നെ കാണുന്നു. വിത്തുകൾ വർഷങ്ങളോളം മണ്ണിനടിയിൽ സുരക്ഷിതമായി കിടക്കും. വളരെക്കാലത്തിനു ശേഷം മണ്ണിളക്കിയാൽ പെട്ടെന്നു തന്നെ കൂറമുള്ള് മുളച്ചുവരുന്നത് ഇതുകൊണ്ടാണ്. ഇളം തണ്ടൊടിച്ചാൽ ഒരു ഗന്ധം ചുറ്റുപാടും വ്യാപിക്കാറുണ്ട്. ഗാലിക് ആസിഡ് ഈ ചെടിയിൽ നിന്നും വേർതിരിക്കാറുണ്ട്. |
