-Uden at være en direkte kopi efter J-B.Greuze er påvirkningen fra denne mærkbar i tegningens sentimentale, moralske og opbyggelige indhold. Der fandtes et stort antal kobberstik efter Greuze's malerier, og G.L.Lahde, som Eckersberg samarbejdede med i disse år, havde flere tegnede kopier efter Greuze, jvf. Vibeke Knudsen i Tegninger af C.W.Eckersberg, Den Kongelige Kobberstiksamling, Statens Museum for Kunst 1983, kat. nr. 11.
