Description Hangar bay of the Essex-class aircraft carrier USS Kearsarge (CVA-33) during the cruise to the Western Pacific between 07 Oct 1954 and 12 May 1955. Visible are mostly Grumman F9F Panthers of Carrier Air Group Eleven (CVG-11). To the right is F9F-5 BuNo. 126223 of fighter squadron VF-114 Executioners, with at least three other F9F-5s of VF-114 (V-400 modex) visible. The plane with the "PP" tail code in the center is a F9F-5P of composite squadron VC-61 DET.C Eyes of the Fleet. Behind it a swept-wing Grumman F9F-6 Cougar of either VF-112 Fighting Twelve or VF-113 Stingers is parked.
