CREDE FERENTI - seal matrix
Description
English: A complete Medieval copper-alloy seal matrix, dating to AD 1200 - 1400. The seal is a pointed oval or vessica shape it is decorated with a central raised rib and an integral lug set close to the upper end on the reverse. . The die face bears a wyvern walking right.  A circumferential legend is present which reads CREDE FERENTI – the inscription means ‘believe the bearer’, i.e. you may trust the message which this device seals.
