Nederlands: Negatief. Wat de teakbossen zijn voor Midden-Java, zijn de Casuarinen (cemara) voor Oost-Java. De bomen met hun hoge en van onderen kale stammen lijken op dennen, maar zijn daar botanisch niet mee verwant. Net als bij de teakbossen is er vaak sprake van grote, nagenoeg zuivere boscomplexen. Het hout kan als timmerhout gebruikt worden, maar is veel harder, moeilijker te bewerken, minder duurzaam, en minder goed bestand tegen rayaps (termieten) dan teak.
