Nederlands: Negatief. Tussen 1300 en 1500 heerste een Oost-Javaans rijk, Majapahit, over delen van de Indische Archipel. Het wordt daarom door veel Indonesische historici als een voorloper van de huidige staat beschouwd. Hoewel we twee uitvoerige geschriften uit die periode hebben, namelijk de Nagarakertagama (1365) en de Pararaton, is onze kennis van de geschiedenis van dit rijk nogal beperkt. Vóór Majapahit bevond zich in Oost-Java het rijk Singosari, waarvan een bovennatuurlijke reus-paleiswachter hier is afgebeeld (13e eeuw). (P. Boomgaard, 2001).
