Nederlands: Rituele bijl die aanhangers van de Hamadsha en Dghoeghiyyin broederschappen (soefi ordes) meedragen in de processie tijdens hun jaarlijkse feestviering ter ere van de heilige Moulay Idriss in de gelijknamige plaats in de omgeving van Meknes. Tijdens de processie wordt er gedanst (trance) en gereciteerd uit de heilige teksten en tegelijkertijd slaan de aanhangers hun hoofden tot bloedens toe met deze bijl. Tegenwoordig is het zich toebrengen van verwondingen niet meer toegestaan. Deze praktijk is te vergelijken met de rouwtraditie van de sjiietische moslims bij de herdenking van de moord op Hoessein, de zoon van Ali. |
