Nederlands: Repronegatief. De Pangerango vormt met de Gedé een vulkaancomplex waar veel naturalisten onderzoek gedaan hadden, vooral omdat daar al voor 1900 het bosreservaat Tjibodas was afgebakend, een soort dependance van de Plantentuin in Buitenzorg. De plant die de geleerde op de foto bestudeert is de Primula imperialis, beroemd gemaakt door de Duitse naturalist Franz Wilhelm Junghuhn, die deze bloem hier in 1839 aantrof. Junghuhn is de auteur van een in zijn tijd bekend overzichtswerk over de natuur van Java, getiteld Java, zijne gedaante, zijn plantentooi en inwendige bouw (1853/4). (P. Boomgaard, 2001).
