[edit]DescriptionCOLLECTIE TROPENMUSEUM Onderwijs op Java TMnr 10000809.jpg |
English: Reproduction from negative. Beginning in 1892 education for the natives was split. First were schools for the nobles (priyayi) and important local figures, while others for the general native populace followed. In 1907 the curriculum for the first class of schools was made more western. These schools, in Dutch, were called Dutch-Native Schools (HIS) or Dutch-Chinese Schools (HCS, pictured). In 1939there were 279 HIS and 107 HCS.
Nederlands: Repronegatief. (P. Boomgaard, 2001). Onderwijs op Java. Zaakonderwijs, ca. 1925 |
