Nederlands: De liefdesbrieven werden gemaakt door jonge meisjes voor hun geliefden. Ze werden zeer op prijs gesteld door de jonge mannen want hoe meer liefdesbrieven men droeg hoe populairder men was bij de meisjes. Middels de verschillende kleuren en patronen konden de meisjes hun geliefden bepaalde boodschappen overbrengen. Voorzichtigheid is echter geboden bij het 'vertalen' van de boodschappen omdat geen eenduidige betekenis van de kleuren bestaat, zo zijn er naast culturele ook regionale variaties en kan de betekenis ook per familie varieëren.
In het algemeen staat wit voor zuiverheid (der liefde), zwart voor somberheid, ontoegankelijkheid, roze voor armoede en groen voor koelte (der liefde). |
