Nederlands: Deze gestreken korthalsluit, of vedel, heeft 2 snaren en dus 2 stempennen. Vanaf de stempennen lopen de snaren -waarschijnlijk van darm gemaakt- over een brug naar de onderkant van het instrument waar ze over een kam lopen (die hier ontbreekt), en aan een knop zijn vastgemaakt. De houten klankkast is gedeeltelijk afgedekt met leer, en gedeeltelijk met à jour bewerkt hout, dat versierd is met ingelegd parelmoer. In de klankkast zitten een aantal klankgaten.
Dit muziekinstrument (rebab) wordt gebruikt bij de Andalusische muziek in Marokko, met name in de steden waar Moren zich vestigden na de val van Andalusië (1492) zoals Fes, Tetouan, Salé en Rabat. |
