Nederlands: Houten handwijzer met geometrische versieringen in vorm van parallelle lijnen, zigzaglijnen, driehoeken en visgraatmotieven. Deze houten handwijzer werd in moskeeën en koranscholen (madrasa's) gebruikt voor het omslaan van boekpagina's en het aangeven van de te lezen regels om bevuiling te voorkomen. Het werd eveneens gebruikt bij de recitatie van koranverzen vanaf een koranbord om het ritme te begeleiden.
De handwijzer is afkomstig uit het Anti-Atlasgebied. Dit gebied, en in het bijzonder de Sous-regio (Taroudant en Timggilsht), stond bekend om de vele religieuze scholen en zawiya's (soefi-loges) die daar vanaf de 17e eeuw gevestigd waren en waar de Koran en islamitische theologie werden onderwezen. Op de achterkant van het voorwerp is een Arabische inscriptie aangebracht "wa tarikhha" (datum) met een slecht te lezen jaartal in Europese cijfers, vermoedelijk staat er 1376 H. Dit zou betekenen dat de vervaardigingsdatum 1956/1957 is. Op de zettel wordt het jaar 1860 genoemd. Dit is echter zeer onwaarschijnlijk omdat er zelden voorwerpen uit deze periode bewaard zijn. |
