Nederlands: Beeld. Dergelijke beelden van de hemelgod stonden opgesteld op een stenen platvorm in het dorp. Hier bracht men offers en verzocht men om bijstand. Traditioneel wordt op alle eilanden in de regio de kosmos voorgesteld als een samenstel van twee categorieën, die veelal boven en beneden worden genoemd. Tot in het recente verleden werden hemel en aarde gepersonifieerd voorgesteld. Boven werd als een man beschouwd, beneden werd gezien als een vrouw, in de persoon van een aardgodin.
De hemelgod wordt voorgesteld als een groot jager, een man met indrukwekkende dodelijke vermogens. De bootvoorsteven waartegen het beeld van de godheid steunt is versierd met schelpen en visfiguren, welke een buit voorstellen. Op veel Zuidoostmolukse eilanden wordt de jachtbuit vergeleken met het mannelijk zaad. De haan is een symbool van de zon - door zijn hitte beschouwd als groot jager. Haanfiguren werden op Sermata 'siwi resresi', de haan die steeds overwint, genoemd. Het leven op aarde werd afhankelijk gesteld van een door de hemelgod en aardgodin gesloten heilig huwelijk. De mannelijke bijdrage aan het scheppingsproces is het doden van leven. De creatie van nieuw leven is immers afhankelijk van het doden van bestaand leven. De bootsymboliek in deze paalbeelden verwijst naar het kosmische heilige huwelijk, waarbij de aardgodin werd opgevat als boot en de hemelgodheid als de man die het loosgat van de boot dicht.
