Nederlands: Foto. In de statistieken van voor 1940 werd doorgaans een tweedeling aangebracht tussen de producten die uit het bos kwamen. Men onderscheidde hout en alle andere bosproducten die men weinig elegant aanduidde met de term bosbijproducten. De moderne internationale statistieken, waarvan de terminologie uiteraard Engelstalig is, doen in feite hetzelfde en spreken van 'non-timber forest products'. De foto laat zien hoe twee Dajaks, gewapend met slechts twee bijlen die ook nog eens vrij licht zijn, begonnen zijn met het vellen van een woudreus. De foto maakt duidelijk dat grootschalige houtkap rond 1900 nauwelijks mogelijk was met de daar beschikbare inheemse technologie. (P. Boomgaard, 2001). Het omhakken van een boom door Dajaks |
