Nederlands: Door het verder wrijven van de gestampte karitépasta wordt er nog meer vet verkregen. Dit vet wordt later ingekookt. Het bereiden van boter uit kariténoten is een arbeidsintensief werk dat alleen door de vrouwen wordt gedaan.
De opname is gemaakt tijdens één van de twee verzamelexpedities die het Tropenmuseum in 1970-1971 ondernam ter voorbereiding op de grote tentoonstelling in 1971-1972, getiteld 'Samo. Een Afrikaans Savannevolk in ontwikkeling'. De expedities duurden elk drie maanden en werden uitgevoerd door de heren J.T. Broekhuijse en F.M. Cowan. |
