Description
Nederlands: Repronegatief. In de 'zuidwesterarm' van Celebes kwam al veel 'natte' rijstbouw voor, op bevloeibare velden (sawah) dus. Al in de 17e eeuw lezen we over vorsten van Goa en Bone die aanwezig zijn bij de aanleg van waterleidingen. Doordat er een zo groot surplus geproduceerd werd, kon de VOC er de Specerij Eilanden deels van rijst mee voorzien. Hier zien we de wel vaker voorkomende combinatie van hoge bevolkingsdichtheid, natte rijstbouw, gecentraliseerde staten en rijstexport. De bewaterbare velden waren van de regen afhankelijk of werden kunstmatig (middels irrigatie) bevloeid. (P. Boomgaard, 2001). Bouw van een stuwdam voor irrigatie aan de Palaka-rivier
