English: Reproduction from negative. The Dutch East Indies was one of the largest tin producers of the world, accounting for 20 percent of world production in 1940. Most tin came from the islands of Banka and Billiton Singkep, all located on the east coast of Sumatra. Many of the miners, like those shown here, were ethnic Chinese.
Nederlands: Repronegatief. (P. Boomgaard, 2001). Arbeiders in de tinmijn te Banka |
