A twenty pence Charles I silver coin.

Obverse: Left facing bust of Charles I, crowned, with pointed beard. Mark of Value ‘X X‘ to the right of bust.

The legend is worn, truncated and therefore not legible. The legend probably read: CAR · D . G · SCOT · ANG · FR · ET · HIB · R · which translates too ‘Charles, by the Grace of God, King of Scotland, England, France and Ireland’.

Reverse: A crowned thistle, now very worn with only the outline of the leaves visible.

The legend is worn, truncated and therefore not legible. The legend probably read: IVSTITIA · THRONVM · FIRMAT · which translates as ‘Charles, by the Grace of God, King of Scotland, England, France and Ireland’.
