Title
COIN
Description
English:

A medieval copper alloy portuguese ceitil, probably of Alfonso V (AD 1438-81). A ceitil is one-sixth of a real.

Obverse: Castle with three towers, ramparts, waves below.[...]

Reverse:  Shield with arms of Portugal, lis to eithre side and above. [...]

The coin is damaged around the edge, making the inscription illegible. The use of fleurs-de-lys around the shield is most commonly found on the coins of Alfonso V.
