Title
COIN
Description
English: An incomplete cast copper Post-Medieval spoon possibly for an apothecary dating to c. AD 1500-1700. It comprises the bowl and part of the stem of the handle.

The bowl is oval shaped and gently concave. The stem projecting from one narrow curve is flat in cross section and approximately rectangular barring two triangular projecting knops extending from either side just after the join with the bowl. The stem ends in an old transverse break. The spoon has a dark brown patina.

The spoon is 26.5mm long, 10.1mm wide at the bowl, 1.8mm thick and weighs 0.77 grams.

Similarly small spoon bowls on the database have been suggested as being apothecary spoons dating to the Post-Medieval period including DENO-9DB358, HESH-1018E6, WILT-884E90.
