Description
English: Lead spindle whorl. Cast biconical whorl with a central moulded aperture of diameter 8.1mm, probably miscast. Both sides bear decoration comprising a series of radiating lines or ridges which intersect a circumferential ridge to produce a series of trapezoid compartments on either side. A prominent rim where the two halves of the form meet probably includes untrimmed casting flash. The metal retains a grey tint. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1500-1600.
