Title
COIN
Description
English:

Medieval gold quarter noble of Edward III (1327-1377), Fourth Coinage, Series G, type a/d mule, 1356-1361 AD, North 1189/1190. North indicates that 1189/1190 are only know as mules with the obverse of type 1189 (with annulet stops) and reverse of 1190 (with saltire stops). The spelling mistake in the reverse legend was identified by R L Kenyon who lists this coin as Type 2 of the quarter nobles of 1351-60 (R L Kenyon, 1884, The Gold Coins of England).

There is two other examples of this coin with the GAHLORI spelling mistake:SUSS-538E67 and SUSS-B348A4. It does not appear that these other two coins were struck with the same die as this entry.
