Description
English: STARTED IN 1833 AS A PUNISHMENT FOR THE WORST PRISONERS; IT WAS POORLY MANAGED AND NOT ECONOMICAL. IT WAS SOLD IN 1848 TO A PRIVATE CONCERN AND CLOSED IN 10 YEARS MOST BUILDINGS WERE DEMOLISHED OR DESTROYED BY FIRE. THE PICTURES ARE OF THE MAIN SHAFT ENTRANCE.
