| Description | Canadian National diesel locomotive # 4803 in the Toronto Railway Museum. This is a typical engine of road switcher or 'hood' design with a cab near one end. And though driveable in both directions, the off centre placement of the driver's cab divides this into a short hood and a long hood. Most engines of this design can run equally well in both directions, though some countries restrict speeds with the long hood is leading. More notes about this particular engine appear in subsequent captions. (Toronto, Canada, Nov.2015) |
