Description
English: National Freshwater and Fisheries Training and Research Center (NFFTRC)[1] is located within the Central Luzon State University (CLSU) campus in Muñoz, Nueva Ecija. It is about 150 km north of Manila. The center was established in 1979 through a joint project of BFAR, United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Texas A & M University (TAMU) which provided non-degree and postgraduate training in aquaculture. The center was originally named as Freshwater Fish Hatchery and Extension Training Center (FFH-ETC). In October 1987 BFAR became a staff bureau and the center was renamed as National Freshwater Fisheries Technology Research Center (NFFTRC). When the Philippine Fisheries Code of 1998 (RA 8550) was signed into law in 1998, the center was renamed into what is now the National Freshwater Fisheries Technology Center.[2]
