This preface was written by Emperor Taizhong; it accompanied an essay by the Crown Prince Li Zhi for Indian Buddhist scriptures translated by Master Monk Xuan Zang, and was written in standard script by Prime Minister Chu Suilang, a famous calligrapher. The preface was carved in A.D. 653, and was installed at the Yan Pagoda in Xi'an. |
