Description
English: Bronze Sword. Exhibition "Treasures of China", Canadian Museum of Civilization, 2007.
  • Eastern Zhou Dynasty, Warring States Period (475 - 221 B.C.)
  • Excavated at Changsa, Hunan Province
Forged of an alloy of copper and tin, this sword features a column-shaped handle with two hoops; the stem was originally covered with ropes or silk for handling. There is a sword guard between the body of the sword and handle, and a central ridge runs between the two blades. Both blades and the tip are still extremely sharp.
