Description
English: Commandant of the Marine Corps, General James T. Conway and Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps Sgt. Maj. Carlton W. Kent spoke at a town hall meeting aboard Al Asad Air Base, Feb. 18. The two top Marines informed the service members aboard Al Asad about current policies, standards, changes and goals for the Marine Corps. Some of the hot-button issues discussed were deployment to dwell time, growing the Marine Corps by 5,000 Marines annually, new height and weight standards, updating the bachelor enlisted quarters, the new combat fitness test and the progress Marines made in the Al Anbar Province. According to Conway, Western Iraq was known as the bloody Al Anbar in 2004, and was expected to be the last province to be "under control.""Today the Al Anbar is the model for everything else taking place," said Conway, commenting on the progress Marines have made in the province.
