Summary

[edit]
Description

Elizabeth Shaw is CEO of Chicago International Charter Schools. Her company has diverted away into their own coffers millions of dollars of public funds intended to educate black and brown low-income students.

Shaw is paid as much to operate 14 CICS schools as the CEO of Chicago Public Schools who runs 600 schools.

CICS holds a surplus of $36 million dollars while their schools are starved of resources.

This is called privatization. What is supposed to be public is turned over to private 'investors' to become a profit center for them. In this case, school children are treated as nothing but commodities. Each one of them is just a little walking, talking profit center for corporate big wigs.

For more information check out the Chicago Teachers Union website.

The strikers set up a picket line outside the building where Shaw has her offices. They finally went inside and attempted to have a meeting with her. Front desk security put in a call to her office. Shaw refused to meet with the strikers. And so the situation continues........
