Summary

[edit]
Description
English: An example process of selecting the direction d that best matches the input block. First we determine the average pixel value for each line of operation k for each direction. This is illustrated above by setting each pixel of a given line k to that average value. Then, we sum the error for a given direction, pixel by pixel, by subtracting the input value from the average value. The direction with the lowest error/variance is selected as the best direction.
