English: Four inch Civil Air Patrol cloth seal, authorized for use between February 1970 and February 1983. This differs from later versions as it uses the phrases "Civil Air Patrol" on top and "Auxiliary United States Air Force" on bottom, rather than the later "United States Air Force Auxiliary" on top and "Civil Air Patrol" on bottom. CAP National Commander Major General Lucas V Beau, USAF, requested the Office of Quartermaster General design a corporate seal in 1953 to replace the old Civil Defense design.
