Place of creation London and Glasgow: Gowans & Gray Ltd.; Boston U. S. A.: Leroy Phillips. Edinburgh: Printed in Great Britain by Turnbull & Spears. 26p. With six pages of publisher’s titles bound at the end.
Notes de Beaumont has noted on the half title page: ‘[Book purchased at Provincial Booksellers Fairs Association:] PBFA 1.81 £1.50’ Printed on the half title page: “Repertory Plays No. 19.” E. A. Taylor was the husband of Jessie M. King. Glassine dust jacket over paper wrappers. No printing on lower cover. The signed illustration on the upper cover is by Ernest Archibald Taylor. It shows a young lady, Mme Dormette, in a black costume and mask, standing on a balustrade. She stares straight out at the viewer, white buildings and a blue starry sky in the background. From head to tail, the lettering is: “/ Repertory Plays No. 19/ Bal Masque/ Oliphant Down/ London & Glasgow: Gowans & Gray Ltd./” The author and title lettering is in black along its length. The overlap of the dust jacket places the spine lettering on the lower cover. A bookseller’s slip is tipped in, detailing the stages of the original artwork for the illustration. This book acquired with the generous assistance of the British Library Collections Trust. Another copy (probably) of this work is at British Library shelf mark 11778pp1/19
