Notes Text sewn on two sawn-in cords. White paper over boards. Robin de Beaumont has noted: “Book purchased from] Donald Fraser’s books 15.3.98 1882. [£]11” His small square bookplate is on the upper pastedown, together with a ‘garter’ stamp of ?? College. The lower cover has titles in the series: “Johnston’s Geographical Handbooks.” The upper cover is printed in red and in black. At the head: “Price one shilling”. An open nut shell is depicted. In the upper half of the shell, are the words: “/ Science/ in a/ Nutshell/ by Alexander Watt./” The lower half od the nutshell displays scientific equipment. At the base: “/W. & A. K. Johnston. Edinburgh and London. /” is printed. The spine is worn – no lettering. This book acquired with the generous assistance of the British Library Collections Trust. Another copy (probably) of this work is at British Library shelf mark 8708h3.
