Notes On the title page is the blue oval stamp of “Prof. George L. Mello Master of Gymnastics & Calisthenics…&c” Robin de Beaumont’s notes are written on the upper endpaper recto. The text is sewn on two sawn-in cords. Beige (unprinted) endpapers and pastedowns. Yellow paper over boards. The lower cover is printed with a list of “Routledge’s Sixpenny Handbooks. In fancy boards with Illustrations.” The upper cover is illustrated with a group of boys/ men exercising on a variety of gymnastic equipment. At the head is printed: “ Routledge’s Sixpenny hand-books.” At the tail is: “London George Routledge & Sons.” The spine has the words: “Gymnastics – sixpence” printed along its length. This book acquired with the generous assistance of the British Library Collections Trust. Another copy (probably) of this work is at British Library shelf mark C194a168.
