Notes

Yellow paper over boards. The upper endpaper recto and upper pastedown have blue border patterns, with publisher’s titles listed. Robin de Beaumont’s small square bookplate is on the upper endpaper verso. The lower cover lists titles of Cassell. The upper cover is printed in colours. It shows a railway steam engine emerging from a tunnel. The words:”/ The/ Steam Engine/ [printed in red]/ Its/ History/ and Construction/ London. Cassell, Petter & Galpin/” are printed in red and in black. The frontispiece shows a steam engine, viewed from the side. The spine has been re-backed. This book acquired with the generous assistance of the British Library Collections Trust.
