Notes The frontispiece is uncaptioned, printed in colours and shows a paddle steamer. The text is sewn on three sawn in cords. Yellow dyed cloth over boards. Yellow endpapers and pastedowns. Robin de Beaumont’s notes are inscribed on the half title page recto, and on a separate paper slip. Two more bookseller catalogue paper slips detail other copies of this work. Robin de Beaumont’s bookplate is on the upper pastedown. The lower cover lists three other series published by Routledge. At the tail of the lower cover: “/Edmund Evans, Engraver and Printer, Raquet Court, Fleet Street/”. [Probably Harrild printed the letterpress, and Edmund Evans executed the frontispiece and the upper cover illustration.] The upper cover has ‘rusticated’ intertwined branches on its border. The illustration shows a male and female hawker, each with two baskets of wares, suspended from shoulder yokes. Above and below them, are the words: “/ Two shillings/ Richmonds’ Tour/ of/ Europe/ With 28 pictures/ London: G. Routledge & Co./” The spine is dyed in red with the title words printed in black along its length. This book acquired with the generous assistance of the British Library Collections Trust. Another copy (probably) of this work is at British Library shelf mark 12806e14
