Place of creation London: Addey & Co., Henrietta Street, Covent Garden. London: William Stevens, printer, 37 Bell Yard, Temple Bar. Unpaginated; each plate/ illustration is accompanied by two pages of letterpress [i.e. 32 plates and 64 pages of letterpress].
Notes This book is number 6 in the publisher’s series “Books for Young Readers”. Yellow paper (now dulled) over boards. The bookplate of Robin de Beaumont and his notes in pencil are on the upper pastedown. The lower cover has plant tracery on the corners and also within eight red circles, and also in gold on the centre. The upper cover has printing in colours. There is a ‘Renaissance style’ tableau, with children seated, reading and studying. Some are gathered around a circular table. The title: “/Wonders of the World/” is at the head; the imprint: “/Addey & Co. Henrietta St, Covent Garden/ London/” is at the tail. Inserted at the front is a letter and an invoice from Peter Lake, of ‘Books-n-Bric-a-Brac’. Robin de Beaumont paid £1.75 for this book in 9.9.1982. Another copy (probable) of this work is at British Library shelf mark 10027b15. This book acquired with the generous assistance of the British Library Collections Trust.
