Notes Beige paper over boards. The upper and lower pastedowns and endpapers list publisher’s titles. The Lower cover advertises another work by Mrs. Cupples: “Uniform with the Stocking Knitters Manual, price 6d; by post 7d. A Knitting Book of Counterpanes, Toilet Covers, Pincushions, and Other Articles of Fancy Work.” The upper cover is printed in blue and red. There is ‘an oval and cross’ repeating pattern on the borders, with square studs on each corner. The centre-piece shows three ladies and a girl, the adults seated and sewing at a table. Above and below the centre, the words: “/ The/ Sewing Knitters/ Manual/ [sub-title] A Companion to the Work Table/” are printed within cartouches. Underneath the sub-title, the words: “Schenck & Macfarlane” are printed in red. The spine is not lettered, half is missing. This book acquired with the generous assistance of the British Library Collections Trust. Other (probable) copies are at British Library shelf mark 1578/8644; RB23a34642
