Notes | The frigate has been identified as HMS Owen Glendower. In 1822 it carried the British envoy Lord August John Foster (1780–1848), who was envoy to Copenhagen in the years 1814–1824, to Copenhagen to deliver the Order of the Garter to Frederick VI. I.C. Dahl thought the frigate was the HMS Seringapatam, which was a misunderstanding, because although it brought a British legate to Stockholm via Copenhagen, that was in 1823 when the painting was already finished. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
