Description
English: Title page from the original printed version of Aлексаndрȣ Лъпȣшnеаnȣл (Alexandru Lăpușneanu[l]), the medieval-themed novella by Moldavian author Costache Negruzzi. As first published by the journal Dacia Literară, in the series Scene istorice din chronicile Moldaviei ("Historical Scenes from the chronicles of Moldavia"). The overall title is written in one of the early Latin-alphabet versions of Romanian; the novella itself is typed in a transitional form, part-Latin and part-Cyrillic.

Iacob Heraclid Despot had been killed by the mace of Ștefan Tomșa, who was now the leader of the country. But Alexandru Lăpușneanu, after being defeated by the armies of the Despot and fleeing to Constantinople, had managed to hire Turkish armies and was now on his way back to cast away the plunderer Tomșa, and to take back his throne that he wouldn't have lost, if he hadn't been betrayed by the aristocrats for money.
