C. M. HOBBS & SONS, BRIDGEPORT, INDIANA 37 GLADIOLUS This is a very useful class of bulbs for spring planting, from the fact that the flowers are not only among the most showy in their season, but also because, by making a succession of plantings, the season may be prolonged until frost. Some of the later hybrid sorts are ex- quisitely delicate in their rich tints. They are most effective when massed among plants of similar character. They alternate with cannas very nicely, or with hybrid phloxes, roses or dahlias. They like a deep, rich soil and shel- tered position. Plenty of manure should be worked into the soil, but not allowed, in its fresh state, to come in contact with the bulbs, as it causes them to decay. August. G. America.. One of the best ever produced. Beautiful flesh pink; large flowers. Each, 10c; 10, 90c. G. Brenchleyensis. The most effective vermilion scar- let for massing. Each. 50c; 10, $3.50. G. Chicago White. Earliest flower; flowers pure white with faint lavender streaks on lower petals. Each, 10c; 10, 90c. G. Europa. This is an excellent European variety. It is considered by many to be the best pure white, having the finest spikes, and large individual flowers of snowy white. Excellent. Each, 20c; 10, $1.50. H. Golden West. Brilliant orange; dark stripes in throat 10c; 10, 90c. G. Niagara. Delicate yellow light marked with rosy-carmine in throat. High grade variety. Each, 15c; 10, $1.25. G. Panama. Beautiful large deep pink; darker than America. Extra good. Each, 10c; 10, 90c. G. Willy Wigman. Creamy-white with large scarlet blotch. A very distinct and a most beautiful gladioli. Each, 10c; 10, 90c.
