Description
English: Air Charter Systems Cargo Douglas DC-8-55F (C-FDWW) at Manchester Airport. This aircraft was built as a pure freighter and delivered to ONA Overseas National Airways as N852F in Jul-66. It was sold to Martinair Holland as PH-MAU in Oct-69. It was wet-leased to UTA Union de Transports Aeriens between Oct-71/Apr-72. The aircraft was sold to Aviaco (Spain) as EC-DEM in Nov-78. It was sold to Progressive Air Services in Feb-85. In Dec-86 it was sold to World Wide Air Charter Transport, operating as ACS Air Charter Systems, as C-FDWW.. It was sold to the Airlease 55-2 Corporation as N6161C and leased to American International Airways (Kalitta!) in Jan-93. It was repossessed by the Whirlpool Finance Corporation in Mar-94, transferred to WPGP3 Inc and stored. It was leased to American International Airways again in Oct-94. American International bought it in Oct-95 and were re-named Kitty Hawk International in Feb-99. The aircraft was permanently retired at Oscoda, MI, USA in Apr-00 after 34 years in service.
