Tiếng Việt: Công văn 1444/VP/M của Quyền tỉnh trưởng tỉnh Quảng Nam ngày 09/08/1948 (Bản tiếng Pháp). Nguồn: Trung tâm Lưu trữ quốc gia IV.

Cụ thể, ngày 09 tháng 8 năm 1948, Quyền tỉnh trưởng tỉnh Quảng Nam đã có công văn mật số 1444.VP/M gửi cho Quốc Vụ khanh Thống đốc Trung phần Việt Nam về việc vụ khủng bố của Lê Dương ở làng Hà Thanh (Điện Bàn), trong công văn đã khẳng định rằng: “vì trong đêm 11-12 tháng 6 năm 1948, quân Việt Minh về phá ba khúc đường từ Hà Thanh đến Lệ Sơn nên quân đội Pháp (Lê Dương) đồn Lệ Sơn thuộc huyện Hòa Vang có lùa một số đông người bắn chết tại Hà Thanh. Số nạn nhân có lẽ đến 400 người phần nhiều là đàn bà và con nít”.

"Trước một vụ tàn sát rất tai hại cho phương diện chính trị, chẳng những làm dân chúng khủng khiếp mà còn gây thêm nhiều ác cảm và hơn nữa giúp thêm một lợi khí để Việt Minh tuyên truyền lôi kéo những phần tử trung lập này có ít nhiều cảm tình với Chính phủ ta, về chiếm khu, mưu sự chống lại phong trào quốc gia hiện tại. Cuối công văn này, viên Quyền tỉnh trưởng tỉnh Quảng Nam viết: “Tỉnh tôi thiết tưởng không thể bỏ qua một việc rất quan hệ như thế và nhờ quý Phủ can thiệp với Tòa ủy viên Cộng hòa Pháp và nghiêm luật trừng phạt các tội nhân, hầu tránh những vụ đáng tiếc như trên khỏi tái diễn một lần thứ hai nữa”.
