Description

In the Carolingian period, the clan of the Poppo Germanic, decided to settle on therocky peak of the "Mons Poppo" (Hill clan poppo). In the Middle Ages, Loches was then in the hands of Fulk Nerra Montrichard andbelonged to his enemy Eudes Count of Blois. Halfway between these two cities,Montpoupon was a strategic location. It was the scene of bloody fighting. The fourteenth century, Montpoupon passed to the lords of Requests andBuzançais. Antoine de Prie and his wife, Madeleine d'Amboise, the castle rebuilt it in 1460.They turned it into a Renaissance-style mansion

In 1857 John Baptist de la Motte St. Pierre, great grandfather of the current owner, bought the castle. The family was outside work (end of XIX) and interior (1920) to give back to Renaissance Montpoupon appearance it has today.
