Description |
English: The manuscript is known as a menologion, from the Greek for "month". It was written and illuminated in the imperial scriptorium in Constantinople, and is one of the few editions to be so richly illustrated. It is a collection of the lives of the saints honored in January and is arranged by the days of the liturgical year on which each saint is venerated. |
