Summary
[edit]DescriptionByway towards Brook Down - geograph.org.uk - 597225.jpg |
English: Byway towards Brook Down This gate marks the start of the open access area; the sign can be seen on the left-hand gate post. The notice on the gate warns the byway users to remain on the byway (ie the open access does not apply to them) and that it is an offence to damage ancient monuments, of which there are many here apparently. There are certainly some barrows nearby. The route is also used by the Hamstead Trail, an Isle of Wight Council trail running coast to coast in the western part of the island. |
