Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Notable as the only marble tomb at All Saints, Speke, this is of Frederick George and Mary Ann BYRON. Frederick was born c.1818 in Kirkby Stephen, Westmoreland (now Cumbria) and married Mary Ann ANDERSON at St Mary's Grassendale. He was then described as a merchant's clerk 19 Phythian Street, Low Hill, Liverpool. Mary was described as aged 30, a widow of Sutton Grange, Speke In the 1861 census Frederick is still a clerk in American trade living at the Agent House, Sutton Grange. Head of the household is Ann Edwards aged 56, his mother-in-law, but Mary Ann is not listed. In the 1871 census he and Ann are at Woodend Lane, he is now a farmer and commercial clerk employing three servants and two agricultural labourers, so quite prosperous. He died on June 5th 1877, followed by Mary Ann on December 25th 1877, both apparently intestate and without issue.
