thout writing a large guidebook to Boston,to more than give a faint idea of the variety of rides thatcan be had on the Boston Elevated lines for five or tencents, or to more than outline what may be seen from thecars. The following trips, however, will give some idea ofwhat is before the trolley tourist who wishes to see Bostonwith the maximum of ease and the minimum of expense. BOSTON THROUGH CAMBRIDGE, PAST THE COLLEGESTO ARLINGTON, RETURNING TO BOSTON VIAMEDFORD AND WINTER HILL A car taken at the Park or Boylston Street stations ofthe Subway soon reaches the surface at the Public Garden,passing the Arlington Street Church with its graceful spireon the right, and the Young Mens Christian Associationbuildings on the left at the corner of Berkeley Street, whileon the opposite side are three notable buildings, the BostonSociety of Natural History and those of the MassachusettsInstitute of Technology. The car now goes along CopleySquare, passing on the left Trinity Church and the Boston

Crossing the Charles River overHarvard Bridge one is taken along Massachusetts Avenuepast City Hall on the right; it is a handsome building witha fine fagade and a well designed clock tower, is one of the Rindge gifts to the city of Cambridge. A short runbrings one to Harvard Square, the centre of Cambridge.As one enters the square the Wadsworth House is passedon the right.
